Dhanvantari is an incarnation of the god Vishnu, one of the three main energies sustaining the universe along with Brahma and Shiva. He has shown himself, when the gods and demons whisked the immortality potion from the sea. He brought the nectar of immortality to the devas as well as the knowledge of Ayurveda to mankind.
