Alkaline food has bitter properties and is deacidifying and detoxing as well. 

FOOD WITH ALKALINE PROPERTIES ACCORDING TO AYURVEDA

• herbs and spices like anise, basil, dill, tarragon, fennel seeds, turmeric, galangal, cardamom, coriander, cress, cumin, caraway, marjoram, cloves, oregano, parsley, saffron and thyme

•ripe and sweet fruits apple, apricots, avocado, pear, blueberries, pomegranate, mango, honeydew melon, peach, plums and a little sweet cherries

• dry fruits dates, figs and raisins

• plant milk like oat-, rice- and almond milk

• milk from goat or cow

• natural sweeteners like sugar from birch, raw cane or coconut blossom, stevia, maple or agave syrup

• seeds like sesame, chia, flax and flea seeds

• nuts like sweet almonds, hazelnuts, little macadamia and brazil nuts

• oil and fats like ghee, olive oil (with less than 0.3 percent acidity), rapseed and linseed oil

• vegetables like chicory, cauliflower, broccoli, fennel, cucumber, pumpkin, parsnip, parsley root, sweet potato, jerusalem artichoke and zucchini

• salads like rocket salad, oak leaf lettuce, endive and lamb’s lettuce

• cereals and cereal products like spells, kamut, emmer, barley and oats

• cereal-like products like amaranth, tiger nut, millet, quinoa, teff and rice

• lentils and legumes like mungobeans, red and yellow lentils, chick peas

• teas like liquorice root tea, fennel-anise-caraway tea and bitter herbal teas, light green or black tea
